On September 12, 2024 Vickie and I had the opportunity to visit the WWII, LST 325 which was docked in Marietta, Ohio. We had a great day and got to meet Bob Pointer who was the radio operator on this trip up the Ohio River. He said that this was his 3rd voyage with the ship. They take a trip once a year and are out for 30 days. Each year they try to go to a different area and don’t come to the same place only every 5 years.
I had to say that it was a great visit and the guys were very polite and very informed about the vessel. If you have a chance, by all means you need to visit the ship.
